Kinesiology
What is Kinesiology
The word Kinesiology originates from the Greek words 'kinesis' meaning movement and 'kinein', which means to move. Kinesiology is the scientific study of human movement or biomechanics also known as human kinetics, which solely focuses on physical activity. Using scientific based medical principals, the kinesiological approach applies to the enhancement, analysis and preservation of human movement in all its form.
History
Even though the study of human movement stretches as far back as the Greeks, Kinesiology has been around since 1964, developed by a chiropractor named Dr George Goodheart, who is also known as the father of modern kinesiology.
Dr George Goodheart developed the muscle testing and monitoring technique. Modern Kinesiology encompasses muscle testing, lymphatic points, neurovascular points and the meridian points systems. It essentially involves testing the muscles and then applying corrections, which these combination of points systems allows. It is formally known as Applied Kinesiology.
A colleague of Dr Goodheart John Thie, further developed a new system of Kinesiology from what they both had learned called 'Touch for Health'. It was called Touch for Health because he wanted to reach and touch people with this system. The Touch for health system relied on holistic methods of healing and is aimed primarily at teaching people the principles of Kinesiology and its benefits.
Another form of Kinesiology was developed by a guy named Alan Beardall, a protégé of Goodheart's. He developed the principal of the human mind being the central processing computer of the entire body, which sends information to the rest of the body. Using this theory he could get answers to locate the problems from the body by asking it yes and no questions, using the muscle testing method. This Academic kinesiology and Applied Kinesiology are the two major components which are the formations of modern Kinesiology.
Specialized Kinesiology branches from Touch for Health, which primarily is based on the use of emotions and intuition and more relies on what our Bio computer is telling us.
Kinesiology has been developing over the years with more branches of Kinesiology being developed, as more techniques and or methods are found.
Systematic Kinesiology
Systematic Kinesiology is a branch of applied kinesiology, and is a method of identifying any imbalances that a person has. Then muscle testing is carried out by applying light pressure and recording their ability to hold their muscles against the pressure.
Each muscle in the body is related to an energy circuit involving the muscle, an organ and a meridian. A meridian is an energy pathway. The muscle will feel weak or spongy if there are any emotional, structural, chemical or energetic stresses which are affecting the circuit. The weakness of the muscle indicates an imbalance.
Upon identifying an imbalance the practitioner will carry out retests to learn what factors are affecting the imbalance and identify how to overcome them, rebalancing the system.
Each time a relevant factor is identified or introduced, the muscles response changes, like a switch. It is the same for a nutrient being place in the mouth whilst carrying out muscle testing. The same method is used to find energetic and structural problems.
Treatment
I will initially take a clients medical and lifestyle history.
Then I carry out muscle testing by asking the client to place their limbs and or head in certain positions.
Based on what I and the client learn from the tests, I then am able to identify what is involved in the imbalance and then devise a treatment plan.
The buildup of imbalances occurs in a certain order and to achieve a return to health quicker, they must be treated in a particular order. During these muscle tests, I can determine which order the imbalances occurred in.
The treatment that the client's body receives depends on the feedback received during testing.

Muscle Testing
The best definition for muscle testing is bio feedback because when we muscle test what we are doing is getting feedback from the body. Muscle testing can be used to seek out anything from nutritional allergies to finding the cause and cure of disease to finding deficiencies. Using the feedback gained from the procedure, I can then determine what treatment is best for you.
All the things that we come in contact with, whether we see it, smell it, touch it, hear it or taste it are made up of vibrations. Depending on how our bodies react to these vibrations we either become strong if our bodies react positively to them or weak if our bodies react negatively towards them.
The idea is to simply return the body to a healthy state by rebalancing its energy. Our body is an array of interconnected energy circuits consisting of muscles, organs, lymphatic's, energy meridians, nerves and blood vessels. These circuits are turned off when imbalances occur in the body. Muscle testing allows the rebalancing of energy and the healing of these systems.
What are the benefits and to whom?
Anyone can benefit from Kinesiology whatever your age, health or fitness level. From babies to children, performers to the injured, elderly to the unwell even athletes can benefit from Kinesiology.
Aswell as the benefits already mentioned, kinesiology can also help with achieving life goals, discovering individual nutritional needs, identifying sensitivities to the environment and nutrition, enhancing brain function and coordination, preventing illnesses to mention a few.
